Police Unity Tour - Our History

In May 1997 the Police Unity Tour was organized by Officer Patrick Montuore of the Florham Park, NJ Police Department, with the hope of bringing public awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty and to honor their sacrifices. We started in 1997 with 18 riders on a four-day fund-raising bicycle ride from Florham Park, NJ to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C. which raised $18,000.00.
This past May (2023) we had over 2200 members nationwide who made the trip, and we are proud to announce that we were able to donate 2.0 Million Dollars to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund bringing our total donations to more than $ 35 Million Dollars over their history.

CHAPTER IX - OUR HISTORY

The founding members of Chapter IX are comprised of officers and civilians from Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, who formed a contingency group and rode with Chapter 1. Since 2005, when the first officer from Delaware Rode with Chapter 1, the group has grown steadily in numbers. In 2011 the group was joined by a large contingency from Howard County Police Department in Maryland, bringing the group's total members to 51.

Chapter 9's formation is the product of many factors, the most important being how rapidly the PUT Organization was growing in 2011. Every year officers had to be declined participation due to limited slots.  Realizing that the Tour could not continue to grow without the formation of a new route, our group decided to "step up to the plate" and take on the task of forming and managing another route.
In 2012 we became an official Chapter and had an incredible Inaugural ride thanks to our many dedicated returning members and our awesome new members.  Since then, we have continued to add members from all over the States. Our group begins our four-day journey on May 9th in Valley Forge PA, an area known for its rich history, scenic surroundings and great shopping. Our first day ends in Delaware, where we are cheered on by our family, friends and survivors and share a group dinner with our newfound family.
During our ride we have wreath laying ceremonies, ride through scenic horse country in Maryland, and battle our way up hills and through valleys. Our faith, friendship, and commitment grow stronger each day as our journey takes us closer to Our Memorial.
The Ride is capped off on May 12th as we ride with our fellow Chapters into our memorial where hundreds of citizens and survivors cheer us on as we ride through the Memorial Walls, letting all who are there know that we will never forget.

That's right, our Elite Motors preparing for Action!!!
